Ricardo Queirós publica o livro : Android - Introdução ao Desenvolvimento de Aplicações

Sinopse
O AndroidTM é um sistema operativo para dispositivos móveis desenvolvido pela Open Handset Alliance, liderada pela Google. O mercado móvel apresentou em 2012 uma grande hegemonia dos dispositivos Android, com mais de metade da quota de mercado na venda de dispositivos móveis. A Google Play, loja online de aplicações Android, registou mais de 800 mil aplicações e mais de 30 biliões de downloads foram feitos até à data entre aplicações pagas e gratuitas.

Estes números impressionam e são o mote para a escrita desta obra dedicada ao Android, que tem como principal objetivo ensinar todos aqueles que se estão a iniciar no desenvolvimento de aplicações para dispositivos Android.

A linguagem de programação usada é o Java e o ambiente de desenvolvimento onde foram escritos todos os exemplos da obra, compatíveis até à versão 4.x do Android, é o Eclipse.

Esta obra disponibiliza ainda a correspondência dos principais termos técnicos para o Português do Brasil.

Ricardo Queirós vence o Prémio Inovação Pedagógica em Ensino a Distância (PIPED)

Ricardo Queirós foi o vencedor do Prémio Inovação Pedagógica em Ensino a Distância (PIPED), prémio atribuído na cerimónia comemorativa do 28º aniversário do IPP e cujo valor é de 2000 euros.
O Instituto Politécnico do Porto instituiu o PIPED, visando distinguir dentro do IPP aqueles que apostam em estratégias pedagógicas inovadoras, recorrendo às tecnologias da informação e comunicação, com aplicação no ensino a distância.

Professor Hitoshi Oi, from University of Aizu, Japan is visiting this week

Prof. Hitoshi Oi, from University of Aizu, Japan, is visiting us this week. His main research interests are computer architecture and operating systems. In the context of his visit, Prof. Oi will give a seminar (scheduled to Feb 15th, 10am) and will talk about University of Aizu and its student exchange programmes. Prof. Oi will be around until Friday, Feb 15th.

The book "Innovations in XML Applications and Metadata Management: Advancing Technologies", published by IGI Global, addresses the functionality between XML and its related technologies towards application development based on previous concepts. This book aims to highlights the variety of purposes for XML applications and how the technology development brings together advancements in the virtual world.

Ricardo Queirós, together with Alberto Simões and José Carlos Ramalho from UM are the editors of this book. To them, deserved congratulations from CRACS.

Proceedings of S-Cube 2012 edited by Luís Lopes

The proceedings for the 3rd S-Cube Conference on Sensor Systems and Software has just been published by Springer as  volume 102 in the series on Lecture Notes of the Institute for Computer Sciences, Social-Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.
