Eduardo Marques completed today, the 21st of October 2011, his PhD in Computer Science. He made an excellent presentation and defense of his thesis entitled Runtime Programming.

Prof. Jude Shavlik, from University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA, will be visiting us in August 1st. He kindly accepted to give a talk: Statistical Relational Learning via Ensembles of First-Order Regression Trees.

Seminar: The Human Connectome: Organization and characterization of hierarchical brain networks

Marcus Kaiser is an Associate Professor in in Neuroinformatics, in the School of Computing Science and the Institute of Neuroscience at the Newcastle University, UK. He his also visiting Professor of Computational Neuroscience and Neuroinformatics, Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences, Seoul National University, South Korea. He is leader fo the UK INCF Special Interest Group in Image-based Neuroinformatics. He is author of the first major review (Trends in Cognitive Sciences, 2004; cited 300+ times) and of more than 30 other publications in the field of brain connectivity.

Professor Keshav Pingali at CRACS

Keshav Pingali is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin, and he holds the W.A."Tex" Moncrief Chair of Computing in the Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences (ICES) at UT Austin. He was on the faculty of the Department of Computer Science at Cornell University from 1986 to 2006, where he held the India Chair of Computer Science.

CRACS member Ricardo Rocha was appointed by the Association for Logic Programming (ALP) as co-chair of the Programme Committee for the 13th International Symposium on Practical Aspects of Declarative Languages (PADL'2011) that is taking place in Austin, Texas, US, January 26-28, 2011.

Three new FCT projects approved for CRACS

Recently, CRACS had three new projects approved and funded by FCT from December 2009 calls. These projects total over 320,000€ for the next years.
