How Data Science and Big Data are Reshaping Research Computing

Ms. Christine Kirkpatrick, from the San Diego Supercomputer Center will give the first CRACS seminar of 2018 on Monday 22nd, 3pm. The talk will last 20 minutes with added 10 minutes for questions.

Abstract: Data science and the new needs of researchers have disrupted research computing’s status quo.  Data-driven research inputs have become increasingly heterogeneous, sparking the need for new architectures and competencies within support structures.  User stories from recent projects will be discussed including event detection and social media analytics.
